Haddonfield native Shannon Lally is a 25-year-old mezzo-soprano specializing in operatic, musical theater, and early music repertoire. She graduated from Indiana University with an M.M. in Voice in 2023 and a Graduate Certificate in Vocology in 2024, under the guidance of Peter Volpe. She graduated from Westminster Choir College in 2021 with a B.M. in Voice Performance and a minor in Piano Pedagogy where she studied with Sean McCarther and Susan Ashbaker. Recent credits include Madame Flora in The Medium (Bloomington Chamber Opera), Ramiro in La finta giardiniera (Indiana University Opera Theatre), Stefanie Schmid in the world premiere of Lauren Bernofsky’s new opera The Mensch, Sorceress (cover) in Dido and Aeneas (Indiana University Summer Chorus), and Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Carol Vaness Opera Workshop). In October of 2022, Lally made her debut as the Alto Soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Philharmonic Orchestra and Oratorio Chorus at the Jacobs School of Music, conducted by Thomas Wilkins.
Other operatic credits include Niña in Ainadamar (Indiana University Opera Theatre), Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (Trentino Music Festival), Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte (Trentino Music Festival), Little Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore (Indiana University Opera Theatre), Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Westminster Opera Theatre), Olga in Eugene Onegin (Russian Opera Workshop), and Armelinde in Viardot’s Cendrillon (Princeton Opera Company).
Shannon currently resides in South Jersey with her cat, Muffin, where she teaches voice and piano lessons and sings with The Village Carolers of Philadelphia.
